Swinging?

Just before this video was taken, Carter had his first trip to the park.  Apparently he doesn't need a real swing to have fun. ( don't mind the music, we were just jamming )

Carter 10 months

Thank goodness for child locks on cabinets. This boy sure knows how to make a mess. Like all children, Carter loves to pull things off the shelves. Especially after you have just put things away. I've had to adopt the opinion that a messy house means a happy baby. This month, Carter has discovered that he can climb in the cupboards and pull everything out. Thankfully the only one he can get into is the one with all the plastic bowls. He also loves the inside of the fridge. It doesn't matter where he is, if you open the doors on the fridge he'll come as fast as he can. Leave the door open too long and he'll just climb right in. We've now had to move the garbage off the floor and into the pantry. The little stinker loves knocking them over. Just like the fridge, Carter loves the dish washer. Luckily the door hasn't broken off yet from the weight of a baby sitting on it. If I want the dishes done quickly, I have to put him in his high chair with a treat.
I finally took Carter to a park and let him try the swings and the slides for the first time.  He gets the biggest smile on his face when he swings so I assume he loves it. Going down slides is a different story. I don't think he quite knows what is going on. Maybe next spring he'll like them more.
Carter has now discovered that the bathroom echoes. I think that is his noisiest time of day. He loves banging his toys on the tub and splashing mommy with the water. I feel like I need to wear a rain coat in the bathroom. He seem to enjoy drinking the bath water as well. I knew he loved water, but come on kid, bath water? Hey, he's just staying hydrated.

Going down the slide with Nicholas

While Nicholas played, Carter chilled

Such a destructive little boy, knocked it over all by himself

What's in here?

Mom, you need a bowl?

I know there's more back here somewhere

He's growing up too fast! Already needs a haircut

Ready to go shovel the snow

Such a buff little dude. Already lifting weights

So this is how I get my binki when you take it away

Carter's first Halloween

For Halloween we decided to have Carter dress up like Charlie Brown. From behind he looked just like him. We got to carve pumpkins and eat "spooky" food at Ryan's parents house the Saturday before and it was so much fun. We didn't take him trick-or-treating because let's face it, he's 9 1/2 months old and doesn't even eat candy. We spent the night watching TV in the living room and passing out dumdums to the neighbor kids. For living in a neighborhood with a million kids the turn out was a bit disappointing. We maybe had 30 kids stop by so by the end of the night we were giving each kid two big handfuls of suckers. Oh well, at least they are all small children and nobody knocked after 9 pm. Happy Halloween!

Isn't he the cutest Charlie Brown ever?

My little blockhead

No, that's not a tooth...he's eating cheese

Erin's pumpkin. Zero and Oogy Boogy from Nightmare before Christmas

Ryan's pumpkin. The head of Jack the Pumpkin King

Staring at the candles in the pumpkins

Love his scrunched nose

The wrong way to go down stairs

My son is silly. He doesn't understand that you have to turn around and go down stairs backwards. It isn't until after his birthday party (where I give credit to Walker for teaching him) that he figures out that he was doing it wrong all along. So for the 4 1/2 months from when he started crawling until his birthday, this is how he went down stairs.

The mean things we do to our kids :)

I know every parent out there has done at least one thing to their kids that makes you laugh, but might make others think you are mean. Here's one of my guilty pleasures that I love making Carter do. Usually I just throw a blanket over his head, but this time the jammies won. Enjoy (cause I sure do).

Carter 9 Months

At Carter's 9 month checkup he weighed 20 lbs 1 oz and was 27 1/2 inches tall. That put him in the 40% for his weight and 20% for height. He's no longer proportioned. Luckily at this appointment he didn't have to get major shots, just the flu shot. Carter has become an expert crawler, although he thinks that you can go down stairs face first. He'll eventually learn to turn around. He's figured out how to sit on his knees and bounce, which is super funny when he gets really excited. If there is anything for him to pull himself up on or push around there is no stopping him. He loves climbing up everything, especially against the sliding door and banging on the windows. I can only imagine what the neighbors think when they see him..."Let me out! or Hey! Hey! Hey! Do you see me?" He sure does know how to make me smile. One of Carter's favorite things to do is sit over by the stairs. I don't know why, but he's over there all the time. We sure do love our little monster.

The only way to keep him from knocking the spoon out of your hands is to give him one of his own.

He'll stand by the window and bang on it all day if you let him

You caught me mom! I'm just reading the paper :)

It's like he's in prison, I want to be in the real world too.

Raspberries on railings doesn't work so well, but it makes a great picture

Homemade ball pit...best thing ever!
