8 Month Photos

I borrowed my mom's camera and took some pictures of Carter for his 8 month photos.  Who needs a professional when you can do it yourself?

Carter 8 Months

Yay! We now have a crawling baby...oh wait. Now we have to baby proof everything. He's mobile!!! It is really fun though. Carter started crawling about 7 1/2 months. He now doesn't get frustrated that he can't reach his toys.  He loves exploring the house.  He tries to eat everything and wants anything that mom and dad have.  Carter is now eating two or three pureed foods everyday and poops just as much.  He's figured out how to pull himself up to a standing position.  We figured he'd be up and about as soon as he started crawling. He's always had the strongest legs.  The biggest hit with Carter is anything that makes noise.  I've given him a metal bowl and a wooden spoon and he LOVES them.  He also likes playing the piano.  Doesn't sound like much but he's so cute banging on the keys. We have two stairs that go from our kitchen to the bedrooms.  Carter has figured out how to go up the stairs, but not how to come down.  He gets stuck at the top and just talks until someone gets him down.

I want to climb out

And eating the car soup

How do I open this?

Nothing is coming out

It would taste good in my belly

Maybe I'll try a cup

Mobile babies mean nothing is safe (we've now put a box to block the cords. Out of sight, out of mind)

I have pictures of myself sitting in the same position

I want those apples

Pulling himself up on the chairs (he can't figure out how to get down so he just stands there...until he cries for help)

He's very grabby too.  So much for eating my oatmeal for breakfast

"Can you help me down now?"

Spinning, Spinning, Spinning

In Carter's 7 month post I mentioned that he could spin in circles on his belly.  Well, we took this video of him playing with his cars.  We surrounded him with a wall of rolled up towels and let him go to town.  The creativity kicks in after you chase cars all over the kitchen about a million times. He so stinking cute!

Play time with Walker

Matthew and Jamie came down for a visit and ended up going to church with us.  Before we left we had some play time with Walker.

He just had to play in the bouncer

I know it's blurry, but this is the face he pulled when we told him to say "cheese"

Nope, not too big at all :)

This frog must taste good because Carter chews on it all the time too

"I think I'll just lay back and relax"

Trying on my shoes

Now trying to walk down the stairs in my shoes...didn't quite work

Carter 7 Months

This month Carter learned to spin in circles.  He moves around by a combination of rolling and spinning on his belly.  There are times I can't figure out how he got across the room.  He loves going under the table and chewing on the legs of the chairs.  He's continued making faces and can push himself up onto his hands and legs.  He should be crawling anytime. I love that he can now play on the floor by himself more.  Our funnest game is watching him try and get his toys that are just out of reach.  He'll reach and reach until he decides to just roll over and spin to get it.

Love that he'll just sit and play

Squishy face! (it also comes with a sniffing sound)

Loves his cars

Example of turning around and he's now 10 feet away...hum

Spinning makes me tired mom

Video update

I've taken a lot of videos of Carter.  These are some of my favorite. He was about 5-6 months in all of them.

As we were getting ready for bed, Ryan burped and this is what happened.  I guess we were loud enough to scare him.

This is when Carter began to laugh. We really had to try some days.

I know this one is really long, but the end is so worth it.  He figured out how to make his cow go "boing."

Carter 6 Months

Obviously, I'm posting this way after Carter turned 6 months old. So most of this is from memory.  At his 6 month check up Carter weighed 17.5 lbs (50 %), was 24 1/4 inches tall (10 %), and his head was in the 40th percentile. My little munchkin is no longer perfectly proportional :( He's now a tank! I attribute this to eating 6 ounces with every bottle and getting a good helping of rice/oatmeal cereal. We've decided to make our own baby food and he seems to like it a lot.  He definitely loves pears and sweet potatoes. Now that he is eating pureed foods, we needed to get a high chair. We bought a used one from a family friend and I made a new cover for it.  Looks brand new and is pretty dang cute. He started to laugh a lot more this month. We look like idiots trying to get him to laugh but it's so worth the effort. Carter is getting more control of his hands and now loves to pull hair and noses. He also began making faces.  Pretty fun to watch him. Sitting is beginning to get more natural for him.  He still falls over a lot so we put pillows all around him to keep him safe.  This allows me to put him on the floor and play by himself. I can now get a few things done without his screaming for attention...yay!
